Shane Quinn ran well early on in his under 23 race but eventually dropped back to finish in 41 st place in a field of 84, the team did quite well to finish 4 th of 12 teams behind Great Britain, Ukraine and France and in front of Russia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Shane was the fourth Irish scorer. Best Irish performance came from Fionnula Britton who was attempting to win the senior title for the 3 rd year in succession but she eventually had to settle for 4 th place on Sunday another top performance. Incorrect Numbers

Once again people running with another persons number competed in the recent Waterford Half Marathon and consequently caused many problems with the results after the race with people getting prizes they did not win and others who had been entitled to them excluded, none of it the fault of the organisers. Men being credited with a certain placing when in fact it was a woman that wore the number and visa versa was a major problem as indeed was anyone wearing a number that was not theirs. Many have suggested that those found to be involved in this carry on be excluded entry to future races as is apparently done in other counties, people dealing with results I'm sure would support this suggestion and may have to bring it in here in Waterford. It mainly occurs in races where there are pre entries and someone decides a few days before the event that they cannot run and passes it on to someone else. Please destroy the number if you are not participating yourself when you see the problems that can be caused - its not rocket science- and give those totting up the results a clear run
