He's back!!! Fintan Walsh's weekly blog.

Mc Carthy's brave effort at World Indoors
>
> David Mc Carthy (West Waterford AC) produced a fine championship
> performance at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot in Poland last
> Friday finishing 6th in his 1500m heat in 3:39.46, just missing out on
> a fastest qualification spot into the final by under two tenths of a
> second. The time was also just off his personal best of 3:39.14 which
> he set at the AAI Games. Impressively the Waterford man finished the
> eighth fastest time overall. He was unfortunate to get in the fastest
> of the three heats as the first five in his heat all made the final
> together with the first and second only in the other two heats.
> McCarthy said: I'm a little disappointed with that, I gave it my all
> but I finished just outside the qualifiers. The goal was to make the
> final, then to just fall short of it is disappointing".
