Good Result in USA for Quinn.

On Friday last at the Big East Collegiate Cross Country Championships
over a course in The Bronx in New York there was a very good result
for Shane Quinn competing for Providence College. He finished a very
close second in the 8000 metres race which had a huge entry in a time
of 24 minutes 38.81 seconds, the race being won by Martin Hehir,
Syracuse in 24.37.20.

County Juvenile ( B ) Championships on Sunday

St Augustine's College, Abbeyside is the venue on Sunday next for the
County ( B ) Juvenile Cross Country Championships and they begin at 12
noon sharp and should be over in an hour or so. Races for boys and
girls u 9,11,13,15.  In these races medals for first 6 home in each
race ( no team prizes). Athletes placed first, second or third in ( A
) Championships not eligible or those on winning scoring team at the (
A ) Championships. These Championships are ideal for athletes who have
taken up the sport this year and all athletes in training should be
given the chance to compete in competitions. Immediately after the
races a short meeting will be held to discuss the Munster Cross
Country fixture in Waterford on Sunday November 11 th
.
Munster Fixture at WIT

The Munster u 9,11,13,15,17,19 Juvenile Cross Country Championships as
well as the Intermediate Men and Women's Championships are now fixed
for WIT Grounds, Carriganore on the outskirts of Waterford City on
Sunday week November 11 th at 12 noon. Lots of help will be required
from all clubs on the days leading up to the the event in the WIT
Grounds

All Ireland Cross Country Dates

Sunday November 25 th Woodies DIY AAI Inter Counties and Juvenile u
12,14,16,18 Cross Country,Tattersalls, Ratoath, Co. Meath Sun 9 th
December Novice and Juvenile u 11,13,15,17,19, Cross Country,
Adamstown, Co. Wexford. The European Cross Country Championships will
be in Budapest the same day.

Winter League

This year’s league kicks off on Thursday November 8th The League will
run for a total of 13 Thursday nights, with a break for Santa and
Hogmanny. Registration is at 6.30 pm each night, (from 6 pm for the
first few nights to get everyone registered in time), with the run
starting at 7 pm from the RSC in Waterford City. All participating
will have to wear clear reflective clothing and indeed anyone training
after dark should always wear reflective clothing and above all keep
off roads that are busy with traffic and if in groups all should stay
on the one side of the road and not be a hazard to motorists and a
danger to themselves..

2012 National Athletics Awards Nominations

The National Athletics Awards in association with Woodie’s DIY and
Tipperary Crystal will take place on Saturday 17 th of November in the
Clyde Court Hotel, Lansdowne Road, Dublin.. The awards ceremony is a
celebration of the many successes of our athletes during 2012. It also
commemorates our exceptional volunteer base.The athletes nominated in
the Junior Athlete of the Year category are Siofra Cleirigh Buttner (
DSD AC)-semi-finalist in the 800m at the World Junior Championships,
Mark English ( Letterkenny AC )- 5 th in the 800m at the World Junior
Championships, Sarah Lavin ( Emerald AC )-semi-finalist in the 100m
hurdles at the World Junior Championships and Ben Kiely ( Ferrybank AC
)-semi-finalist in the 400m hurdles at the World Junior
Championships.The Athletes of the Year, Outstanding Official Award,
Ultra Running Award, Mountain Running Award, Master Athlete of the
Year, Aviva Tailteann Schools Boy and Girl Athlete of the Year,
Special Recognition and Lifetime Achievement Awards will be announced
on the night.Finally all athletes who broke Junior, U 23 or Senior
Irish records in 2012 will be honoured on the night

Waterford AC Half Marathon

Saturday 1 st December 2012, 11:00 am Online Entry at Waterford AC
website. Entry Fee €25 Pre entry only Closing Date Tuesday 20 th
November 2012 OR when the first 1500 are received.  The closing date
however may be at an earlier date if 1500 entries are received  Please
note the race will take in 95 % of last years course there will be a
slight change to the start on the Cork Road and the finish will be
finalised shortly but it may not be in the RSC, full details next
week.
