The club had six athletes competing in the EAP international meet in Geneva on Saturday June 16th and it turned into quite a sensational day for us. Thomas Barr smashed his national record with a world class time of 48.90s when he stormed off the last barrier to snatch a win the 400m hurdles beating the reigning european champion. This time ranks him first in Europe this season!
Kelly Proper also had a superb day winning the long jump with a fine leap of 6.45m and followed this up with a personal best of 23.38s in the 200m.
Niamh Whelan ran a speedy 23.78 to win her race in the 200m and Niamh McNichol took almost half a second off her 200m best to win her race in 24.47s which is a qualifying standard for the world junior championships next month.
Ben Kiely ran 52.52 for a seasons best and fifth place in his 400m hurdles and Jessie Barr did likewise a SB and fifth in her 400m hurdles.
A super special day for the club. Well done to all six athletes.
