Marvelous National Senior Indoor Championships

It was an amazing weekend for the club in Athlone at the National Senior Championships. Kelly Proper won double gold in the long jump (6.35m) and 200m (23.57) which made Irish athletics history as she became the most titled Irish athlete ever at the indoor championships. Thomas Barr had a super victory in 47.05 in the 400m and Niall Tuohy had a terrific win in the 800m....champions all! Niamh Whelan won an excellent silver in the 200m and bronze in the 60m ...one of Ireland's best sprinters over both distances. Sorcha Murphy made a welcome return from injury for silver in the high jump.  Sean Archer was fourth in the triple jump and Shane O Dwyer was fourth in the high jump ...both guys just narrowly missing medals. Richard Lucas had a fine run in the 800m just missing the final and Michael Dowling had a great run for sixth in the 3000m. Aisling Quinn ran really well to make the ladies 800m final. Overall a super weekend! Well done to all our amazing athletes.
